University of Mumbai Launches The Post Graduate Diploma In Jewellery Management in Technical Collaboration with Indian Institute of Jewellery at the GARWARE Institute of Career Education & Development, Kalina. The PGDJM - Post Graduate Diploma In Jewellery Management program is aimed at providing a combination of the processes of fabricating jewellery, its characteristics and techniques along with management concepts and applications. The practical work is aimed at empowering the student with hands on experience in fabricating jewellery. Thus creating Jewellery Technologists with an expertise to handle areas of Production, Product Development, Quality Control, Material Management, Merchandizing, B to B Sales and Branding.
Objective :
To equip students with technology, processes, practices, techniques of manufacturing and fabrication of jewellry sector; accompanied by management studies to get in-depth knowledge, necessary skills in this field, in readiness for jobs in the field.

Indian Institute of Jewellery (IIJ) is Asia Pacific's premier autonomous Institute that offers international standard education in Jewellery Manufacturing, Design, CAD, Gemmology, Jewellery Retail and Business. Backed by Modern India Enterprise, IIJ is a leading professional institute, recognized and accepted by the jewellery Industry for quality training, state-of-the art infrastructure and industry-relevant curriculum.
When IIJ first opened its doors in 2004, it had only one program - the Master Creator®- Jewellery Manufacturing Program and since then has introduced several other jewellery education programs in its curriculum.
Indian Institute of Jewellery is also a technical collaborator for two programs - Diploma in Jewellery Design Management (DJDM) and Post Graduate Diploma in Jewellery Management (PGDJM) that it offers with the Garware Institute of Career and Education Development (GICED), University of Mumbai. IIJ has been designing the course curriculum, providing faculty and training and providing infrastructure facilities too. As a technical collaborator, IIJ also undertake assessment for the two programs.
IIJ continues to have the reputation of being one of the most progressive and forward thinking institution when it comes to education. The proof of this is in the fact that IIJ was chosen as the education partner by the All India Gems and Jewellery Trade Federation (GJF) to conduct its training programs by way of a road show called ‘Vinaya’. The summit was conducted in 20 cities in the first two chapters in 2010 and an additional 10 cities in its third chapter in 2011-2012. Vinaya, an educational summit and amongst the country's largest, has been created with a specific purpose - to professionalize and educate the industry in order to maintain world class standards for all related business operations. Vinaya's aim is to promote the Indian gems and jewellery industry by emphasizing the need for education and professionalization.
IIJ has also been recognized as a National Vocational Training Provider (VTP) for the Gems and Jewellery Industry by the Ministry of Labour and Employment, Directorate General of Employment & Training (DGET), Regional Directorate of Apprenticeship Training for the Western Region under the Skill Development Scheme (SDIS) based on Modular employable skills by the Government of India.
