This is usually different from the client-side scripting in which scripts are run by the viewing web browser, as in JavaScript. The main advantage of server-side scripting is its ability to customize the response as per user's requirements, access rights, or queries into the data stores.

PHP, the popular scripting language widely used for Web Development and can be further embedded into HTML. CMS Designing and Implementation - Volume III

A Web Content Management System (WCM, WCMS or Web CMS) is a content management system (CMS) software, implemented as a Web application, for creating and managing HTML content. It is used to manage and control a large and dynamic collection of Web material (HTML documents and their associated images). A CMS facilitates content creation, content control, editing, and essential Web maintenance functions etc.
