Admission Details
University:
We are providing career counselling and coaching to the students enrolled with Universities recognized by Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD), Govt. of India, All the state Governments, University Grant Commission (UGC) and Association of Indian University (AIU).
Program Duration:
The minimum duration of the M.A programme is 'Two' years and the maximum duration is 'Four' years from the years of the year of Admission to the Programme. The candidates who do not complete the Programme within four year will have to seek fresh admission.
Other Information:
-
The maximum duration for the completion of M.A Programme shall not exceed two times the duration (Six years) of the particular Programme, from the date of admission to the Programme (including the year of admission).

Candidates who discontinue their studies for more than four academic years after joining a Programme shall have to seek fresh admission.
Evaluation Procedure:
Evaluation for each course covers two aspects:
-
Internal assessment (IA) through assignments with a weightage of 10%
-
Term-end examination having a weightage of 90%
Assignments:
Students are required to submit assignments according to the prescribed schedule before the termend examination. In case, the student has not submitted the assignment within the prescribed date, the result of such candidate will be declared on the basis of the theory marks only.
Master's Preparatory Programme (MPP) :
Additional details:
Master's Preparatory Programme (MPP) is compulsory for students admitted under Regulation-I. The students will be supplied with master lessons in 10 blocks giving a bird's eye view of the cognate subject in which they are admitted to Master's Degree Programme.Further details are as follows.

Graduates who have not studied cognate subject and taken admission for M.A / M.Com
Programmes are required to undergo MPP Examination.
-
The Candidates will be supplied 10 blocks of lessons at the time of admission. These lessons
contain information about the cognate subject which they have chosen for M.A Degree.
-
MPP Examination will be objective type (multiple choice questions). The Exam will be held
at the end of the M.A examinations, 2012. Total marks will be 100 for the subjects of M.A/M.Com degree programme.
-
MPP Study enhances the knowledge of the students besides increasing job opportunities.
This Course is introduced to bring in All India Standard for M.A/M.Com degree provideed under Open University Scheme.

Candidates applying for MA-MCJ under Regulation – I need not appear for MPP if they
have passed Diploma in Journalism course from KSOU or any recognised University or Institute.
Eligibility
Admission Qualification:
M.A - English: Admission is open to :
(a) Candidates who have passed three Year B.A/B.Sc/B.A (Performing Arts) Degree Examination of any recognized University providing English as a Major/Optional subject at the Degree level OR an examination of any University considered equivalent thereto.
(b) Candidates who have passed the Three Years B.A/B.Sc/B.Music Degree Examination providing English as Second Language or as a Minor subject at the Degree level are also eligible, provided they have obtained not less than 50 percent of the maximum marks in the above language/subject.
(c) Candidates who have passed the Four Year B.A.Ed Degree Examination of the University of Mysore (Regional College Scheme) with English as Major/Optional.
(d) Candidates who have passed Four Year B.A.Ed or B.Sc.Ed of University of Mysore (Regional College scheme),provided they have obtained not less than 50 percent of marks in Language English.
(e) Graduates of any University who have passed Post-Graduate Diploma in English.
M.A - Hindi: Admission is open to:
-
Candidates who have passed Three Year B.A/B.Sc/B.A (Performing Arts) Degree Examination of any recognized University providing Hindi as a Language Under Group-I or Group-II. Provided they have obtained not less than 50% of marks in language Hindi & 40% in Optionals.

Candidates who have passed a degree of any University recognized as equivalent thereto with Hindi as Optional or as Major subject.

Graduates of any recognized University and if the candidate is not studied either Hindi as Language or as Optional then the following examinations will be treated as equivalent to Language and Optional Hindi (But the Candidate must be a Graduate of a recognized University) one of the following Hindi Examinations:-

Rashtrabhasha Praveen or Rashtrabhasha Vishard Examination of the Dakshina Bharat Hindi Prachara Sabha, Chennai.

Rashtrabhasha Vidwan or Rajabhasha Prakash Examination of Karnataka Hindi Prachara Samithi, Bangalore.

Hindi Ratna Examination of the Mysore Hindi Prachara Parishat, Bangalore.

Bhasha Praveen Examination of the Karnataka Mahila Hindi seva samithi, Bangalore.

M.A - History:
Admission is open to candidates who have passed Three Year B.A/B.A (Performing Arts) Degree Examination of any recognized University providing History as one of the Major/Optional subjects at the Degree level or examination of any university considered equivalent thereto. Admission is open to candidates who have passed Three Year B.A/B.A (Performing Arts) Degree Examination of any recognized University providing Political Science and Public Administration as one of the Major/Optional subjects at the Degree level or an examination of any university considered equivalent thereto.
M.A - Sociology:
Admission is open to candidates who have passed Three Year B.A/B.A (Performing Arts) Degree Examination of any recognized University providing Sociology as one of the Major/Optional subjects at the Degree level or an examination of any university considered equivalent thereto.
M.A - Education:
Admission is open to candidates who have passed B.Ed/ B.Sc.Ed/ B.A.Ed/ M.Sc.Ed Degree Examination from any recognised University/ Deemed University or any other degree equivalent thereto.

He/She should be in service candidate working in recognised educational institution anywhere in India as full time teacher/ Education officer.
-
He/She should continue to work in that institution at the time of admission, if selected.

He/She must produce a Service Certificate to that effect from the Head of the Institution where he/ She is working at the time of admission.
The following candidates are not eligible to apply 1. Part-time Teachers
2. Honorary Teachers
3. Those who are not doing any teaching work in School/ Colleges.
4. Candidates who have passed Hindi B.ed Examination from Institutions, which are not recognised by U.G.C.
5. Those who have obtained Hindi Shiksha Snathak Certificate (not B.Ed. Certificate) from Dakshina Bharath Hindi Prachar Sabha, Chennai.
6. Those that are not in service as teachers at the time of applying.
M.A - Journalism and Mass Communication:
Candidates who have passed one year P.G.Diploma in Mass Communication and Journalism Programmes of KSOU or any other recognised University / Institution.
M.A - Economics :
Admission is open to candidates who have passed Three Year B.A/B.A (Performing Arts) Degree Examination of any recognized University providing Economics as one of the Major/ Optional subjects at the Degree level or an examination of any university considered equivalent thereto.
M.A - Public Administration:
Admission is open to candidates who have passed Three Year B.A/ B.Sc/ B.A (Performing Arts) Degree Examination of any recognized University providing Political Science and Public Administration as one of the Major/Optional subjects at the Degree level .
NOTE :
Candidates seeking admission to Second Year M.A. /M.Com. directly by transfer from any other University will have to buy the prospectus and submit fresh application and the admission is subject to approval by the Equivalence Committee of KSOU.
