M.A. HISTORY:
Admission is open to candidates who have passed Three Year B.A/B.A (Performing Arts) Degree Examination of any recognized University offering History as one of the Major/Optional subjects at the Degree level or examination of any university considered equivalent thereto.
M.A. ECONOMICS:
Admission is open to candidates who have passed Three Year B.A/B.A (Performing Arts) Degree Examination of any recognized University offering Economics as one of the Major/Optional subjects at the Degree level or an examination of any university considered equivalent thereto.
M.A. POLITICAL SCIENCE:
Admission is open to candidates who have passed Three Year B.A/B.A (Performing Arts) Degree Examination of any recognized University offering Political Science and Public Administration as one of the Major/Optional subjects at the Degree level or an examination of any university considered equivalent thereto.
M.A. SOCIOLOGY:
Admission is open to candidates who have passed Three Year B.A/B.A (Performing Arts) Degree Examination of any recognized University offering Sociology as one of the Major/Optional subjects at the Degree level or an examination of any university considered equivalent thereto.
M.A. EDUCATION:
Admission is open to candidates who have passed B.Ed / B.Sc.Ed / B.A.Ed / M.Sc.Ed Degree examination from any recognized University/Deemed University or any other degree equivalent thereto.

He/She should be in-service candidate working in recognised educational institution anywhere in India/Karnataka as full time teacher/ Education Officer.

He/she should continue to work in that Institution at the time of admission, if selected.

He/she must produce a Service Certificate to that effect from the Head of the Institution where he/she is working at the time of admission.
The following candidates are not eligible to apply:
-
Part-time Teachers.
-
Honorary Teachers.
-
Those who are not doing any teaching work in School/Colleges. (This does not apply to the Education Officers working in BRCs)

Candidates who have passed Hindi B.Ed examinations from Institutions, which are not recognised by U.G.C.
-
Those who have obtained Hindi Shiksha Snathak Certificates (not B.Ed.Certificate) from Dakshina Bharath Hindi Prachar Sabha, Chennai.
-
Those that are not in service as teachers at the time of applying.
Duration of The Programme:
Duration of the M.Ed Degree Programme is two years. Every candidate has to attend two contact programmes of first and second year in two consecutive years. Those who could not complete the theory examinations within the stipulated time have to complete the same within four years of admission.
M.A. (JOURNALISM AND MASS COMMUNICATION)
Admission is open to candidates who have passed one year P.G.Diploma in Mass Communication and Journalism Programme of KSOU or any other recognised University / Institution. Minimum duration is 'Two' years and the maximum duration is 'Four' years from the year of Admission to the Programme.
M.A. PSYCHOLOGY
Admission is open to B.A. / B.Sc, graduates who have studied Psychology as one of the optional subjects are eligible for admission for M.A. Psychology programme of K.S.O.U. Minimum duration is 'Two' years and the maximum duration is 'Four' years from the year of Admission to the Programme.
M.A. (PUBLIC ADMINISTRATION)
Admission is open to candidates who have passed Three Year B.A/B. Sc /B.A(Performing Arts) Degree Examination of any recognized University offering Political Science and Public Administration as one of the Major/Optional subjects at the Degree level or an Minimum duration is 'Two' years and the maximum duration is 'Four' years from the year of Admission to the Programme.
M.Com:
Admission is open to candidates who have passed Three Year B.Com /B.B.M Degree Examination of any recognized University or an examination of any university considered equivalent thereto.
Note:
Candidates seeking admission to Second Year M.A. /M.Com. directly by transfer from any other University will have to buy the prospectus and submit fresh application and the admission is subject to approval by the Equivalence Committee of KSOU.
Duration of Programme:
The minimum duration of the M.A/M.Com. programme is 'Two' years and the maximum duration is 'Four' years from the years from the year of Admission to the Programme. The candidates who do not complete the Programme within four will have to seek fresh admission.

Eligibility for Admisison:
Admission to M.A / M.Com Degree Programme is made under two Regulations:
Regulation - I :
Graduates who have not studied the cognate subject in the (three years) bachelors' degree programmes are eligible to seek admission to any Post Graduate degree programme under Regulation- I, provided such candidates shall qualify in the Master Preparatory Programme (M.P.P) Examination in the concerned subject conducted by the University. They shall also pay an additional fee (for M.P.P. course material) of Rs. 1000 along with 1st year M.A / M.Com tuition fee.
Regulation - II :
A pass in the qualifying examination i.e., (B.A/ B.Com/B.B.M) for admission to M.A/ M.Com is one of the conditions of eligibility in the case of candidates applying under Regulation II. Subjectwise details are given below :
M.A. ENGLISH:
Admission is open to:
-
Candidates who have passed three Year B.A/B.Sc/B.A (Performing Arts) Degree Examination of any recognized University offering English as a Major/Optional subject at the Degree level OR an examination of any University considered equivalent thereto.
-
Candidates who have passed the Three Years B.A/B.Sc/B.Music Degree Examination offering English as Second Language or as a Minor subject at the Degree level are also eligible, provided they have obtained not less than 50 percent of the maximum marks in the above language/subject.
-
Candidates who have passed the Four Year B.A.Ed Degree Examination of the University of Mysore (Regional College Scheme) with English as Major/Optional.
-
Candidates who have passed Four Year B.A.Ed or B.Sc.Ed of University of Mysore (Regional College scheme), provided they have obtained not less than 50 percent of marks in Language English.
-
Graduates of any University who have passed Post-Graduate Diploma in English.
M.A. HINDI:
Admission is open to:
-
Candidates who have passed Three Year B.A/B.Sc/B.A (Performing Arts) egree Examination of any recognized University offering Hindi as a Language Under Group-I or Group-II. Provided they have obtained not less than 50% of marks in language Hindi & 40% in Optionals. Or
-
Candidates who have passed a degree of any University recognized as equivalent thereto with Hindi as Optional or as Major subject. Or
-
Graduates of any recognized University and if the candidate is not studied either Hindi as Language or as Optional then the following examinations will be treated as equivalent to Language and Optional Hindi (But the Candidate must be a Graduate of a recognized University) one of the following Hindi Examinations:-

Rashtrabhasha Praveen or Rashtrabhasha Vishard Examination of the Dakshina Bharat Hindi Prachara Sabha, Chennai.

Rashtrabhasha Vidwan or Rajabhasha Prakash Examination of Karnataka Hindi Prachara Samithi, Bangalore.

Hindi Ratna Examination of the Mysore Hindi Prachara Parishat, Bangalore.
-
Bhasha Praveen Examination of the Karnataka Mahila Hindi seva samithi, Bangalore.

Sahitya Vishard i.e., Sahitya Madhyama or Uttama i.e., Sahitya Ratna (with Hindi Sahitya) of the Hindi Sahitya Sammelan, Prayag.
